The Level 1 Introductory courses are aimed at new Groundsmen.
We have recently arranged for our excellent Pitch Advisors to present the level 1 courses. They are equivalent to the courses we have previously bought in from the GMA.
Course contents on the lines –
1. Spring Preparation
Health and Safety
Machinery including how to set up a mower
Laying out the square
Pitch preparation
Grass lengths/mowing
Moisture management
Pitch repairs
Rolling
2. Autumn Renovation
Largely follows the format of the IOG level 1 course presenting the practicalities of cleaning up and reseeding the square.
The Pitch Advisors are happy to answer any questions.
The course is free to CAG members. It is a practical, hands-on course – wear working clothes and boots.
Level 2 goes into more detail on grass, fertiliser, loam etc etc. This is also a 1day course. It has a £100 subsidy from the CAG
Level 3 is of use as background learning for anyone planning major changes to their playing surfaces, drainage etc.
