                                                  SUBS ARE NOW DUE FOR 2010

 

 I wish you all a Happy New Year, and hope you all are surviving the weather.

 

 In case you don’t already know I am the new secretary of the Association and I took over the role from Kevin at the November AGM. I am sure you all wish him well and thank him for his sterling work in the early years of setting up the Association.

 

It will soon be time to start thinking of spring and pitch preparations for cricket, and I hope you have all been maintaining your squares and outfields when the weather has permitted. There has been an increase in the use of the Association spiker which is good news, and clubs will see the benefit during the season.

 

I have several items of news and updates to pass on.

 

Firstly annual subscriptions are now due. As in previous year’s clubs in the County League will pay their Association levy in the league affiliation fees. We are trying to negotiate the same with other leagues but this has not been finalised yet. So once again can those clubs in other leagues renew their membership on an individual basis?

 

In order to maintain an up to date database could all clubs please fill in a membership form which is attached and return to Dave Twiney.

 

The spring meeting will be held on Wednesday 24th February at Heatons Sports Club (Heaton Mersey C.C.) starting at 7.30pm. The speakers are Martin Ford and Len Smith. Martin is from the IOG and Len is the Regional Pitch Advisor for South Wales and the South West. They will give a talk on the final elements and conclusions of the 3 year rolling trials at Cranfield. They are very interesting and knowledgeable speakers so please make every effort to attend. There will be a bar and light refreshments available. To give a rough idea of numbers could you please contact me if you are attending?

 

A Foundation A Course has been organised for Tuesday 23rd March at Warrington Sports Club this has been arranged through the IOG. All information is on the CAG and IOG websites. Anyone interested please contact Nick James or myself. We are in the process of arranging a Foundation B Course at the end of August at Toft Cricket Club and a Level 2 Intermediate/Advanced Course in October venue to be advised. When these are finalised the information will be available on the CAG website.

 

Finally last autumn several clubs were involved in bulk purchase of loam at a much reduced rate, we plan to open this up to all members. We need the help of all interested clubs to ensure our database is up to date with their loam type. Members need to inform Mark Samaru in June or early July of quantities required to ensure delivery in time for the renovation. Clubs will be reminded again nearer the time.
